If you’re already using the BOBOVR S3 Pro head strap for your Meta Quest 3 or 3s, you know it’s one of the most comfortable battery straps out there. But like most stock padding solutions, there’s still room for improvement, especially when it comes to heat buildup and long-session comfort. That’s where these replacement Ice Silk and Ice Gel pads come in by Nexus Orbit.

Where to Buy
Design & Compatibility

These pads are designed specifically for the BOBOVR S3 Pro, and that shows right away. The fit is precise, with clean cuts that align perfectly with the forehead support. Once installed, they stay in place, no shifting or loosening, even during more active VR sessions.
Installation is simple and tool-free. You just align them properly (pointed end down), press them into place, and you’re good to go. Swapping between the two pad types is quick as well, which makes it easy to choose based on your session.
Comfort & Feel
This is where these pads really stand out.
Both options significantly improve the feel of the S3 Pro on your forehead, but they offer slightly different experiences:
- Ice Silk Pad:
This one is all about breathability. It has a softer, lighter feel and allows a bit of airflow to pass through. During longer sessions, this helps reduce that “trapped heat” feeling. It’s the more comfortable option if you’re playing active games or using VR for extended periods. - Ice Gel Pad:
The gel version is noticeably denser and provides a firmer cushion. It delivers a more immediate cooling sensation when you first put the headset on. While it doesn’t breathe quite as much as the ice silk, it feels more structured and supportive.
In my use, both performed well, and that’s the key takeaway. It’s less about which is better overall and more about which feel you prefer. I preferred each of these over the original pad that comes with the BOBOVR S3 Pro.
Here you can see the comparison between the three and that these two new ones hold up the same or better than the original:

Cooling Performance
The cooling effect is subtle but effective. Don’t expect something ice-cold, but compared to standard padding, there’s a clear difference.
- The ice silk keeps things cooler over time thanks to airflow
- The gel pad gives that initial cool touch and a more cushioned feel
Either way, both help reduce sweat buildup and forehead discomfort, which is a big win for VR sessions. I find that the leather padding is really easy to clean but makes me sweat way more. I’m happy to use either of these ice materials instead.
Hygiene & Maintenance
A huge bonus here is that both pads are washable and reusable. That makes them ideal if:
- You use VR frequently
- You share your headset
- You just want to keep things clean over time
Being able to quickly clean and rotate pads is a small feature that makes a big difference long-term.
You can even make it so that if you share the headset, you use one and the other user uses the other. Then you are never sharing with another person.
Value
At around $17, this is one of those upgrades that’s easy to justify, especially if you’re regularly using your S3 Pro.
You’re not changing the core experience, but you are improving:
- Comfort
- Cooling
- Overall usability during long sessions
For frequent users, that’s absolutely worth it in my opinion.
Final Verdict
These Ice Silk and Ice Gel pads are a simple but genuinely worthwhile upgrade for the BOBOVR S3 Pro.
They:
- Improve comfort noticeably
- Help keep things cooler
- Offer two different feel options depending on preference
If you use your headset often, this is an easy recommendation. It’s one of those small accessories that quietly makes your entire VR experience better.
Bottom line:
A low-cost upgrade that delivers real comfort gains, definitely worth picking up if you’re already invested in the S3 Pro ecosystem.
