Welcome to True North VR
Welcome to the launch of True North VR!
I wanted to take some time in this first post to explain a little bit about what this is, where it came from, and how it will help you!
Origin Story of True North VR
True North VR’s story started back in 2022. That was when I bought my first VR headset, a Meta Quest 2. Being a professional artist, I’m a part of many Facebook Communities that focus on art. I saw someone post a painting in one of these groups that was done on a VR painting app called Vermillion – VR Painting. It was fascinating, and the little boy who grew up with a Playstation 1 wanted to try it out so bad. I convinced myself (and my wife) that I needed to get it.
After playing Vermillion and getting use to how to worked, I decided it was time to get something about it onto my YouTube Channel “Brian Sloan Artist”. I ended up making over a dozen step-by-step painting tutorials in Vermillion that users can follow along with in the game. I even got in touch with the developer and he added my playlist directly into the tutorials part of the game. This was a thrilling experience.
Later in 2022, I won a few accessory giveaways on various Facebook Groups. I thought it would be fun to make some review videos of these accessories. These reviews were well received and appreciated by the companies. This quickly led to more companies reaching out to me to review their products. I have now partnered with dozens of companies and reviewed over 100 accessories for the Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3s.
All of this time, I had been posting my content on my artist channel and my artist website. I just included VR sections in each of them. I know many of my followers didn’t mind, however, with my VR content growing very quickly, I decided it was time to create something dedicated solely to virtual reality content.
The Name and Logo of True North VR

The True North VR name has pretty simple explanation. I am Canadian which brought the “North” part into the name. And the phrase “True North” just seemed to fit nicely.
The logo has a similar track of apparition. My artwork often features animals, so I wanted to include an animal in my logo as well. I love bright neon colours with technology. And I wanted it to represent where I was from. Moose are maybe the most iconic animal in Canada. I wanted to incorporate our beautiful landscapes in the background. And I made the outside in the shape of a compass to reflect the name “True North”. I toyed with editing on an actual Meta Quest 3 or 3s headset but didn’t like the look. So designed a different looking headset that still has the VR vibe.
The Purpose of True North VR
This will sound corny, but I do it because I love it. My wife often asks, “Aren’t you tired of making content and videos all of the time?”. Truth is, sometimes it can be a lot when I have many projects going on at once, but I actually really enjoy it. Trying new tech that I can have fun with and use in my daily life is a blast. Tech has always been one of my passions so it seems fitting that VR made its way into my life.
I hope to give honest reviews of VR Accessories so that you can figure out what will work best for you. Along with that, I hope to get you discounts on these accessories so you can get them for less!
You will find a whole array of tips about the Meta Quest headsets. One thing I have learned over the years is that what might be natural and easy to figure out for some, is definitely not for others. I teach a VR Class at school and even with teenagers who think they know everything need help. Every year I need to walk them through step-by-step some basic things.
I also plan to post more about VR games and VR news in general. This will become a hub of information that you can come to. And I hope it will become a place of discussion and community for other VR Users.
