Want to play longer without constantly recharging your Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3s? In this video, I’ll show you the best tips and tricks to extend your headset’s battery life — from power-saving settings and accessories to smart charging habits that actually work. Whether you’re gaming, watching movies, or exploring mixed reality, these easy optimizations can help you get the most out of every session.
Watch the video below or read further down about each of my tips for extending the battery life on your Meta Quest 3 or 3s!
1. Adjust the Brightness

You can adjust the brightness by going into the quick settings in the bottom left-hand side of the Navigation menu. From there, you can click and drag the meter up or down. By turning the brightness down even just a little, your battery time will increase!
2. Turn on Battery Saver Mode

In the Settings menu, select the “General” tab on the left hand side. This is often the default tab selected. Scroll down until you see the Power settings. In this section you will find the Battery Saver Mode.
Though this option will reduce the brightness, graphics, and frame rate, it will definitely increase the battery life of your Meta Quest 3 or 3s.
3. Close Unused Tabs/Windows/Apps
With the new update, you can have multiple windows and apps open. In order to increase the battery life, you should close/quit any apps and windows that you are now using. If you are in the Browser and have multiple tabs open, close the ones that you aren’t using. Each tab or extra window and app will be using battery power.
4. Change Wake Time/Sleep Settings

In the same Settings menu where you can find the Batter Power Saving Mode, you will also find a variety of other options that can help extend the battery life of your Meta Quest 3 or 3s. Some of them include when the Quest wakes up, how long it takes to timeout and sleep, and a few others. By adjusting these, you will be able to play a bit longer.
5. Turn off WIFI & Bluetooth When Not Needed
WIFI and Bluetooth are always running in the background. If you are playing a game that doesn’t require either, go into the settings and turn the off.
6. Battery Head Straps
The best upgrade you can get for your Meta Quest 3 or 3s is a battery head strap. This is not only for the extra battery life, but also for comfort and ease of use. There are dozens of battery head straps on the market for both the Quest 3 and 3s. Battery capacities range from about 5,000-10,000 mAh getting you roughly an extra 2-4 hours of play time depending on the size.
Some of the head straps and brands that I would recommend are the following:
You can click on any of those to see my review of them. There are many others on the market as well. No matter the head strap, I would 100% recommend you getting one.
You can check out my Ultimate Head Strap Review video where I talk about what I think are the 9 best head straps on the market:
7. Power Banks
You don’t need to have a battery head strap in order to have extra power. You can just use a regular power bank, or find one that is designed for VR. I know of people who just have one in their back pocket. There are many others though that are made for use in VR. These one attach to your current head strap, can be worn around the neck, attach to your waist, and more.
8. Charging Docks & Dedicated Charging Spot
There are also many different options for Charging Docks on the market. Some will charge just the head set, while others have spots to charge the controllers as well (they come with rechargeable AA batteries). Even if you don’t have a charging dock, just having a dedicated charging spot for your Meta Quest 3 or 3s will help you keep your device charged when not in use and be fully charged when you are ready to play. The worst is when you are ready to play and put on your head set only to find that your head strap is at 50% or even less.
9. Link Cables / Power Cord
With the right link cable, this is a sure fire way to never run out of battery. A link cable will be able to keep you at 100% battery creating endless play time. Make sure you have the right link cable though. Previous link cables couldn’t actually keep up with the battery needs of the Meta Quest 3. There are new ones now, though, that have a spot to plug a power source into the link cable. This will ensure that your Quest 3/3s is getting enough power to keep it fully charged. Or you can just get a really long USB-C power cord that is at least 18W.
The downside to playing with a link cable is then you have a cable running from the headset to your computer and power source. This could get in the way of intense gaming sessions.
