The Kiwi Design H4 Boost and KKCOBVR Q3 Pro are two of the top battery head straps for the Meta Quest 3 and 3s. They both offer increased comfort, balance, and extended battery life but do it in different ways. Let’s break down the similarities and differences between these two head straps.

Overall Design Philosophy
The KIWI Design H4 Boost focuses on convenience. Everything is integrated into a single unit: battery, charging system, and strap. This makes setup extremely simple since you only need one cable to charge both the headset and the strap at the same time. The strap uses a dual-charging system that allows the headset and battery to charge simultaneously when plugged into a fast charger.
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro, however, takes a more unique approach. It’s a 2-in-1 design that can function as both a halo strap and an elite-style strap, depending on how you adjust it. This gives you more flexibility depending on what you’re doing—tight and secure for active gameplay or relaxed for watching content.
Battery and Playtime
Battery life is one of the biggest reasons people upgrade their Quest strap.
The H4 Boost includes a 5300 mAh battery built directly into the strap, which typically adds around 2–2.5 hours of extra playtime depending on what you’re doing.
The Q3 Pro includes a 10,000 mAh battery, which is significantly larger than most competing straps. In real-world use, this translates to roughly 3 hours of additional playtime, depending on your usage of course
The Q3 Pro’s battery stands out as it is a hot-swappable battery. You can purchase extra batteries from KKCOBVR so that you also have another battery ready to go.
So in terms of Battery, I would say the Q3 Pro wins.
Charging and Power Delivery
Charging is another area where these straps take similar approaches with a twist
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro allows you to charge both the headset and the battery at the same time by removing the battery briefly, plugging in the cable, and reattaching it. This makes it a more all-in-one charging solution.
The H4 Boost uses a dual-chip charging system that allows both the headset and strap to charge simultaneously using a single cable. With a 45W charger, both devices can reach a full charge in around 2–2.5 hours.
Though they both allow simultaneous charging, the H4 Boost does it more efficiently.
Comfort and Weight Distribution
Both straps use a halo-style design, meaning the headset’s weight is distributed across your forehead and the back of your head rather than pressing on your face.
The H4 Boost places the battery in the rear of the strap wrapping around the head, which acts as a counterweight and helps reduce front-heavy pressure from the headset.
It has a different style of forehead pad that stands out in my opinion. It isn’t a full band like pretty much every other halo strap I’ve ever used. It is a flexible pad that has a hole in the middle. This design does great to form to your head and actually create a cooler experience.
The Q3 Pro also has the extra battery on the back however it is higher on the back of the head. This does well to create balance. The forehead and back pad are pretty standard. I found the forehead pad to be tight on the sides of my head no matter how I adjusted it. I do have a large head though.
For me, and for extended sessions, the Kiwi Design H4 Boost wins for comfort.
Adjustability and Fit
The H4 Boost includes:
- Rear adjustment dial
- Adjustable halo positioning
- Forehead support padding
- Adjustable headset distance
- Top Strap
The Q3 Pro features:
- Rear dial tightening system
- Multi-point adjustment for head shape
- Adjustable forehead pad
- Top Strap
- Side Knobs
Each offer plenty of adjustability to get a good fit. KKCOBVR Q3 Pro is unique with the side knobs along the arms that connect to the Quest. This makes it very easy to adjust the distance of the headset/facial interface to your face.
The H4 Boost has an adjustable know on the forehead pad that shortens or lengthens a piece that connects to the headset where top of the facial interface is. This allows for easy and secure adjustment of the height of the Quest on your face.
Price and Value
Pricing typically looks like this:
- Kiwi Design H4 Boost: ~$80
- KKCOBVR Q3 Pro: ~$50
The Q3 Pro wins for price pretty clearly.
Final Verdict
Both of these head straps are excellent upgrades over the stock Quest strap, but they appeal to slightly different users.
Choose the KIWI Design H4 Boost if you want:
- A simple all-in-one battery strap
- A little longer playtime from a single battery
- Easy single-cable charging
Choose the KKCOBVR Q3 Pro if you want:
- A larger built-in battery (10,000 mAh)
- A hybrid strap that can switch between halo and elite styles
- More adjustability and customization
Both are solid choices. Please let me know if you have any questions!
