The AMVR HS2 Head Strap for the Steam Frame offers a more comfortable and cheaper option compared to official Valve accessory. Let’s break down what makes it better, what is worse, and if you should get it!

AMVR HS2 Head Strap Overview

The AMVR HS2 Head Strap is a very simple design. It consists of a front clip, a padded overhead piece, and two velcro straps for the rear. The padding is made of leather material so it is very easy to clean.

The weight is negligible and not even worth noting here. It is able to be adjusted for small and large heads alike.

Comfort & Security

Does the HS2 make the Frame more comfortable? Yes, it does. Having the extra strap over the top disperses the little weight even more. The padding also help to decrease any pressure points.

For high movement games, the AMVR HS2 helps to keep the headset more secure. Sharp movements don’t result in shaking on the face. Even as I’ve been using the Frame for watching movies and sports, the extra support on the top of the head is noticeable over long sessions!

Price & Where to Buy

The AMVR HS2 Head Strap is $32 regular price on the AMVR website. This puts it way cheaper than buying the full ergonomic accessory kit from Valve but it obviously doesn’t include the controller straps which some people will want.

AMVR HS2 VS Valve Ergonomic Head Strap

Now for what most of you are probably here for, is the AMVR HS2 head strap better than the Ergonomic Head Strap sold by Valve?

Short answer, yes. But let’s get into the reasons why and where the Ergonomic Head Strap still outdoes the AMVR HS2.

AMVR HS2 Pros:

• Has padding (no padding on Valve)
• Can adjust better for larger heads
• Is able to be purchased separately and not in a bundle
• Leather is easier to clean

Valve Ergonomic Head Strap Pros:

• Higher quality material (Thicker strap)
• Often out of stock

And that’s it. In my opinion, getting the AMVR HS2 is better than the Valve official head strap. We’ll be seeing some better controller grips soon from other companies as well if that is something you really want too.
