The one accessory I always recommend to new Meta Quest 3 or 3s users is a new head strap. The stock head strap is painful to adjust, not very supportive, and doesn’t have an extra battery with it.
Two very well known companies that make VR accessories are BOBOVR and KKCOBVR. The BOBOVR M3 Pro and KKCOBVR Q3 Pro are two great head strap options. Both are halo type head straps that add improved comfort and extended battery life, but they have their differences which we will break down in this article.
Watch the video below for a more hands on comparison or read further down for my experience.
Let’s take a closer look at how they compare.

Design Philosophy
These two head straps feel similar right out of the box but have some variations that are pretty important.
The BOBOVR M3 Pro sticks with a halo-style design, focusing on comfort and modularity. It distributes weight across your forehead and the back of your head, reducing facial pressure. Its biggest feature is the magnetic battery system, which allows for quick swaps without interrupting gameplay.
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro, however, takes a more unique approach. It’s a 2-in-1 design that can function as both a halo strap and an elite-style strap, depending on how you adjust it. This gives you more flexibility depending on what you’re doing—tight and secure for active gameplay or relaxed for watching content.
Battery and Playtime
Battery performance is where things really start to separate.
The Q3 Pro includes a 10,000 mAh battery, which is significantly larger than most competing straps. In real-world use, this translates to roughly 2–3 hours of additional playtime, depending on your usage.
The M3 Pro uses a 5200 mAh B2 battery, adding around 1.5–2 hours per battery.
However, the they are both hot-swappable which means you can purchase extra batteries to pretty much have endless game time with either.
So while the Q3 Pro wins in raw capacity, they both have the ability to be endless.
Charging Experience
Charging is another area where these straps differ quite a bit.
The KKCOBVR Q3 Pro allows you to charge both the headset and the battery at the same time by removing the battery briefly, plugging in the cable, and reattaching it. This makes it a more all-in-one charging solution.
The BOBOVR M3 Pro, on the other hand, charges its batteries separately. You remove the battery and place it on a charger while using another one. This system is less convenient.
Comfort and Fit
Comfort is always subjective, but both straps approach it differently.
The M3 Pro is a comfortable halo strap. It minimizes pressure on your face and feels very balanced thanks to the rear-mounted battery.
The Q3 Pro gives you more customization options:
- Use it in halo mode for relaxed sessions
- Switch to elite mode for a tighter, more secure fit
It also includes side adjustment knobs, which let you fine-tune how close the headset sits to your face without removing the strap. That’s something most competitors don’t offer.
Overall:
- M3 Pro: Consistent, lightweight comfort
- Q3 Pro: More customizable fit for different use cases
Unique Features
Each strap brings something different to the table.
BOBOVR M3 Pro
- Magnetic hot-swappable battery system
- Lightweight design
- Part of a larger modular ecosystem
KKCOBVR Q3 Pro
- 2-in-1 Halo + Elite strap design
- 10,000 mAh high-capacity battery
- Side knobs for quick fit adjustments
- Improved magnetic battery design to reduce humming noise
These features make the Q3 Pro feel more experimental and feature-packed, while the M3 Pro focuses on refining a proven system.
Price and Value
Pricing typically looks like this:
- BOBOVR M3 Pro: ~$50–$60
- KKCOBVR Q3 Pro: ~$50
The Q3 Pro might cost more initially, but you’re getting a larger battery and more versatility built in.
Final Verdict
Both of these head straps are solid upgrades, but they’re designed for different types of users.
Choose the BOBOVR M3 Pro if you want:
- A lightweight and proven halo design
- Hot-swappable batteries
- The ability to play indefinitely with extra batteries
Choose the KKCOBVR Q3 Pro if you want:
- A larger built-in battery (10,000 mAh)
- A hybrid strap that can switch between halo and elite styles
- More adjustability and customization
For most users, the M3 Pro is the safer and more established choice, especially if you like the idea of modular batteries.
But if you want something more versatile with a bigger battery and adjustable fit styles, the Q3 Pro is a very compelling alternative.
