If you’re looking for the best head strap for the Meta Quest 3/3s, you’ve come to the right place. The BOBOVR S3 Pro has been the pillar of best head strap discussions for years now and rightfully so. However, it is now in question whether a new head strap has taken its place. Fortunately for BOBOVR, it is by their own newest head strap the M3 Pro+.
We’re going to break down the similarities and differences between these two head straps to help you decide which one is best.

Design Comparison
Though there is some familiarity between the two, much of what we see between them is different.

The S3 Pro attaches to the arms of the Quest via friction grips. The M3 Pro+ uses full clips. This does restrict the adjustability of the M3 Pro+ in terms of depth but leads to a more secure fit in my opinion.
The top of the back pad is pretty well identical between the two head straps. The difference comes with the bottom padding. The S3 Pro has the same type of padding along the bottom and comes with a separate honeycomb pad attachment you can use. The M3 Pro+, on the other hand, is just a silicone piece with ventilation holes in it.
The other big difference is in the forehead portion. First, let’s talk about padding. The S3 Pro has one large forehead pad that goes all of the way across. The M3 Pro+ has a new type of forehead pad that almost resembles a back pad.

The S3 Pro has a fan built into its forehead piece. The M3 Pro+ has a secondary adjustment knob. This knob allows for you to adjust the tightness of the whole forehead piece itself.
Instead of this new forehead pad, the S3 Pro has two top head pads (what I call goat horns). They are slightly adjustable and you can remove them.
The batteries are located in the same spot and they both have similar rear adjustment knobs.
Comfort/Fit
Now let’s get into the difference in fit.
The S3 Pro is a solid head strap. It has bulk, but that is part of the feel of it. When adjusted properly, it provides a solid fit with all of the extras you would need. All pads are leather material which is easy to clean. The rear pad provides great support and cushion. The forehead pad is thick as well. Personally, I have never been a fan of the goat horn pads on the S3 Pro. Even at their highest, they put unwanted pressure on my head and I usually just removed them completely.
The M3 Pro+ provides the most secure and form fitting fit that I have ever felt with any head strap. All of the padding is leather and thick like the S3 Pro. However, the design of the forehead padding is revolutionary in terms of weight distribution and fit. Using the two adjustment knobs creates a very custom fit feel so that you can fine-tune the weight distribution. It allows for a hybrid fit that acts as either an elite style strap or a halo style strap.
I talk much more about all of this in the video and show it all there. Between the two, the M3 Pro+ has a much better fit in my opinion.
When I tried the S3 Pro for the first time, I had super high hopes. Frankly, I was let down. When I tried on the M3 Pro+ for the first time, I was blown away. That was the feeling I expected when I put on the S3 Pro.
Battery

The battery systems are both hot-swappable in each. However, they are different batteries.
The S3 Pro uses the B100 batteries. These batteries are 10,000 mAh and weigh around 200 grams.
The M3 Pro+ uses the new BM60 batteries. These batteries are 6,500 mAh and weigh around 150 grams.
Since they are each hot-swappable. You can buy as many as you would like and always have them charged and ready to swap and use.
Verdict
Winner: M3 Pro+

So which is the best? In my opinion, there is a new champion in the ring. The M3 Pro+ is now the best head strap. Though it lacks the fan and larger battery, the comfort and fit put it over the S3 Pro.
To make up for the shortcomings, you can get a facial interface that has a fan built in if you really want, and since the batteries are hot swappable, you might just need 3 in total instead of two.
The S3 Pro is by no means a bad head strap and still offers probably the best all-in-one. It is an option to still be considered. But the M3 Pro+ has a feel that is just so much better without the few extra features.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a new S3 Pro before Christmas of this year!
