✅ Pros of the Bobovr S3 Pro Head Strap

🔋 Massive Battery Life with Smart Design

The standout feature of the S3 Pro is without a doubt the B100 battery system. With a whopping 10,000 mAh capacity, it’s a huge leap from the previous B2 unit (5200mAh) — nearly double the juice with only a modest 28% increase in weight. In practice, this can give you 3–4 extra hours of gameplay. On top of that, there is the option of hot-swappable batteries for even longer sessions. By having 2-3 batteries in total, you could technically game non-stop! The updated battery architecture reduces heat and improves efficiency by 6%, making it smarter and more stable for long-term use.

BOBOVR has also added low-battery audio alerts and a more accurate battery level indicator — small but meaningful upgrades.

❄️ Built-In Active Cooling

One of the most unique selling points of the S3 Pro is its integrated fan system. It uses silent tech to keep your head cool during longer sessions. On the side of the head strap, there is a dial that features 100 levels of wind speed adjustment. When it works well, it does help reduce sweat and discomfort.

🛏️ Ergonomic Enhancements

BOBOVR improved the structure at the back of the strap, more comfortable when reclining. This can be ideal for lying back on a couch or bed.

I do really have to laugh, though, as they advertise that “even sleeping is more comfortable”. I don’t know about you, but I’m not sleeping with my Quest 3 on!

That being said, the soft padding helps distribute pressure more evenly, and the overall padding throughout the headset is very soft and supportive. The backpad is one of the top in the business!

🧱 Solid Build Quality

The strap feels well-made and sturdy, with a firm locking mechanism and soft materials that add to the overall premium feel. It also helps alleviate front-heavy pressure, which is great for balancing out the Quest 3’s naturally front-loaded weight. This head strap does not feel like it will break easily.

❌ Cons of the Bobovr S3 Pro Battery Head Strap

⚖️ Hefty Weight

At around 550 grams, the S3 Pro isn’t exactly lightweight. While the battery life is excellent, the added bulk is definitely noticeable. I tested this with active games like Les Mills Bodycombat, Golf+, Beat Saber, and more. I found the extra weight very noticeable with those types of games. It’s a trade-off between endurance and comfort.

🧠 Top Padding Discomfort

Ironically, while the soft padding is a plus overall, the top pads can dig into your scalp, even when fully extended. This might not be a problem for everyone, but for me, it can lead to pressure points during extended wear. I know they can be taken off (but not that easily!), however, I thought it still important to note here that for my head, I didn’t like them.

💨 Fan Is a Bit Underwhelming

The cooling system, while innovative, doesn’t always live up to its promise. It has the potential to move a lot of air; however, both how you wear it and the type of facial interface you have are going to play a large role in its success. If you were hoping for a breezy VR session, temper your expectations.

When playing active games, I like the Quest 3 moved closer to my face so that there was less movement while playing. This setup though, limited the amount of air flow that could reach my face as the interface was then right against my face. When I used the stock interface that does not have any venting, next to no airflow actually reached my face. With other interfaces that have some venting on the top, some air did make it through. If I had moved the headset away from my face so it was more suspended in front of my face, then there was a constant flow of air. But having it in front didn’t work for more active games, as there was too much movement.

In the end, I was underwhelmed with the fan.

🔧 Limited Adjustability

Compared to other halo-style straps, the S3 Pro lacks fine-tuning options, especially around the forehead and crown. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s not the most customizable fit either. Both the H4 Boost by Kiwi Design and the KKCOBVR Q3 Pro have adjustability points where the Bobovr S3 Pro doesn’t. Additionally, flipping up the headset is awkward, so don’t expect easy lift-up access during play.

🧩 Compatibility Issues

The S3 Pro doesn’t play nice with some third-party facial interfaces, like those from AMVR. So if you’re using additional mods for comfort or vision, check for fit issues before purchasing. I used it with the stock facial interface and the V3 by Kiwi Design. Both worked fine.

💸 A Premium Price Tag

All of this tech and convenience come at a price, and it’s not a small one. At $140 CAD or $90 USD, the S3 Pro is definitely on the higher end of the VR accessory spectrum. They aren’t the only company that charges this much for accessories, however, it is definitely something worth noting. For some users, especially casual players, that might be hard to justify when there are cheaper straps with good comfort available. But for heavy users who prioritize long battery life and premium features, the price may be well worth it.

🧠 Final Thoughts on the Bobovr S3 Pro

The BOBOVR S3 Pro is a strong contender for serious VR users who prioritize extended playtime and decent comfort, with the bonus of a unique cooling feature. Its massive battery life, hot-swappable design, and sturdy build make it a power user’s dream. That said, its heft, limited adjustability, and mixed cooling performance may turn off some users, especially those looking for a more lightweight, flexible solution.

Rating: 7.8/10
Best for: Power users, long-session gamers, and VR movie watchers
Not ideal for: Users sensitive to weight, those seeking top-tier comfort or maximum adjustability, active gaming users
