If you’re serious about VR golf, especially in apps like Golf+, you already know that a standard controller just doesn’t cut it. That’s where the DeadEyeVR DriVR Elite Mini steps in, offering one of the most customizable and realistic VR golf experiences currently available.
But with its premium price tag and modular add-ons, is it actually worth it? Let’s break it down. Check out my video below or read my experience further down.
Where to Buy

Design & Build Quality
Right out of the box, the DriVR Elite Mini feels like a high-end accessory. The carbon fiber finish gives it a sleek, durable look, while the professional-grade rubber golf grip adds to the realism and feels just like an actual golf grip (because it is).
At its base, the club measures 20 inches, making it ideal for smaller play spaces, something a lot of VR users will appreciate. It’s compact, but it doesn’t feel like a compromise.
The controller mounting system uses a reverse cup design, and in testing, tracking was rock solid. Whether swinging hard or making precise adjustments, the controller stayed secure and responsive the entire time. It is easy to install and can be quickly removed if needed. Ease of use also makes this club an easy grab since it doesn’t take 5 minutes to get adjusted just to start playing.
The extensions are built of the same high-quality carbon fibre material and all of the weights are just washers. Now I don’t say “just” lightly. They are metal and durable. They are also small which add to the adjustability that I’ll talk about later.
Tracking & Performance
Tracking is where VR golf accessories can make or break immersion, and thankfully, this is an area where the Elite Mini delivers.
- No noticeable tracking loss
- Consistent swing detection
- Seamless integration with Golf+
The native integration in Golf+ is a big advantage. You can select the DriVR attachment directly in-game, which helps ensure accurate swing calibration without extra tweaking. Mine worked perfectly with that setting.
Customization: The Standout Feature
Let’s be clear, customization is what makes this club special.
Adjustable Length
The base 20-inch club can be extended with optional add-ons:
- 6-inch
- 8-inch
- 10-inch
- 12-inch
In testing, both the 6-inch and 10-inch extensions noticeably improved realism. The longer the club, the closer it feels to a real golf swing, but you’ll need enough room to safely use it. I preferred using the 10-inch over the 6-inch in any golf game that I was playing.
This flexibility makes it usable in both:
- Tight indoor setups
- Larger, more open VR spaces
- Options to change depending on what game you are playing and who is playing
Variable Weight System
This is where things get really interesting.
- Base club (with controller): ~338g
- Internal weights: up to +80g (8 grams each x10)
- Extension (10-inch tested): ~120g
- Extension End weights: up to +105g (7 grams each x15)
Fully loaded, you’re looking at roughly 660g total weight.
Because the weights are small and incremental, you can fine-tune the feel with precision, whether you want something light and fast or heavier and more realistic.
That level of control is rare and puts the Elite Mini right up there with top-tier competitors like the Yezro Y28 VR Golf Club in terms of versatility. Having adjustable weights in the middle of the club and at the end also make balancing very personalized as well. Something no other club that I have tested has.
Gameplay Experience
In Golf Sims (Full Swing)
With added length and weight, the experience becomes dramatically more realistic:
- Better swing feedback
- More natural tempo
- Improved immersion
This is where the Elite Mini really shines, it transforms VR golf from “gamey” to something that feels much closer to the real thing.
In Putting Games
Interestingly, the ideal setup changes depending on the game.
For titles like Walkabout Mini Golf, this is my experience:
- Longer length = helpful for alignment
- Extra weight = unnecessary
A lighter setup with added length provided better control and consistency for putting.
Price & Value
Here’s where things get a bit harder to justify for casual users.
- Base unit: ~$125 USD ($100 on Amazon the day of posting)
- Length extensions: $40–$50 USD each
This puts it firmly in premium accessory territory.
Who It’s Worth It For:
- Dedicated VR golf players
- Regular Golf+ users
- Players seeking maximum realism and customization
Who Should Skip It:
- Casual players
- Those who only play putting games
If you’re just playing mini golf occasionally, this is honestly overkill.
Final Verdict
The DeadEyeVR DriVR Elite Mini is one of the most versatile and customizable VR golf clubs available today.
Pros:
- Exceptional customization (length + weight)
- Excellent tracking performance
- Strong build quality and grip
- Native integration with Golf+
Cons:
- Expensive, especially with add-ons
- Requires space for longer configurations
Bottom line:
If you’re serious about VR golf, this is an outstanding investment that can dramatically improve your experience. If not, you’re better off sticking with something simpler.
