New Horizon/Meta Home Movement Settings – Meta Quest Tips

Share:

The new Meta Quest or Horizon home has movement settings that are new compared to the old versions. This new update (V81) has brought some major changes to the Quest system. Many users are disappointed in the loss of the old Virtual Environments (which is a fair concern). One of the other additions though is how you can move around this new Horizon home screen. We can move freely (or teleport if you’d like) and adjust each of those settings to fit your comfort level. I will show you where to access those settings and how you can adjust them best for you in the video below

To access the new World Movement Settings, you need to do the following:

  1. Access the general settings from the menu bar or in the library.
  2. Scroll on the left side until you reach World Movement
  3. Click on World Movement

Once you are in the World Movement settings menu, you will see a variety of customizing options for improve your experience.

First, you can decide whether you want to “walk” around with the joysticks, or if you want to teleport around using the joysticks. Each of those choices will have a few other options with each to further customize how you move around.

You can then decide how you want to be able to turn. You can “snap turn” or “smooth” turn. For the snap turning you can decide the angle of the turns.

At the bottom of this menu is where you can choose the level of comfort assist. This basically forms a type of tunnel vision which does help with VR motion sickness. You can select low to high or none. For the low to high, there are a few other options that you can see there as well to select from.

Overall, I’m happy with the new movement styles and think they are an improvement from the old ways. However, I hope they continue to add more “Scenery” options that are similar to some of the old!
