If you’ve spent any time in VR with your Meta Quest 3 or 3s, you know the stock strap doesn’t cut it. Comfort fatigue sets in fast. That’s where upgraded head straps come in. Two of the best contenders right now and the match up we have for this article is the Bobovr S3 Pro VS Globular Cluster CMQ3.
I’ve tested both and while they share a few similarities, they also have their fair share of differences. Let’s dig into the differences, user experience, and which one might fit your setup best.

🪶 Comfort & Fit
The CMQ3 stands out for its comfort and weight. It’s light, perfectly balanced, and uses soft padding that doesn’t dig into your forehead. You can choose from three forehead pads, three rear pads, and two top straps, giving it an edge in personalization.

Unlike heavier battery straps, the CMQ3’s halo design keeps pressure off your face and nose — great for long, casual sessions or mixed-reality work. The minimal front weight makes it feel like you’re wearing a balanced visor rather than a clamp.
The S3 Pro, on the other hand, is all about functionality. It feels more “solid” and professional, but the extra features come at a small cost — extra bulk. The added fan and battery weight shift the feel slightly backward, though it still remains well-balanced thanks to BOBOVR’s design experience.
🔋 Battery Life & Features

Here’s where the S3 Pro shines. It has the B100 battery. A 10,000 mAh battery can easily double or triple your playtime, and the hot-swappable magnetic system means you can keep going indefinitely with spare packs.
On top of that, it has an integrated cooling fan to reduce heat during long sessions. Using the fan will cut down on the amount of extra play time that you get out of the battery.

Globular Cluster opted to not outsource a battery with their brand name on it. Instead, they went with one of the most trusted power bank companies out there, Anker. They’ve created the perfect cradle on the back of the headset for the Anker Nano power bank. It is only 5,000 mAh so half the size of the B100 by Bobovr. However, you can have multiple of them ready to go and still get the “hot-swappable” feel of endless game time.

💬 Real-World Use
After hours of testing both, I found myself reaching for the CMQ3 more often. For casual gaming, creative VR, or productivity tasks, it’s simply more comfortable and less intrusive. The lighter weight really does make a difference, in my opinion.
However, if I’m doing long VR sessions or multi-hour gaming nights, the S3 Pro’s extended power and fan cooling feel unbeatable. The S3 Pro is one of the best head straps on the market!
