The BOBOVR M3 Pro and Globular Cluster CMQ3 are two of the best lightweight options for upgrading your Meta Quest 3 comfort. Both deliver better balance and longer sessions but have a few slight differences.

Let’s compare the Globular Cluster CMQ3 and Bobovr M3 Pro in real-world use.

🪶 Comfort & Fit

CMQ3

This picture doesn’t include the battery pack cradle on the back.

The CMQ3 prioritizes comfort over everything. It includes a set of adjustable forehead and rear pads to tailor the fit to your head shape. The halo-style design helps balance the headset weight without pushing into your face — ideal for long, light sessions. All of the back pad options are solid and don’t have holes in the middle like the M3 Pro and many other head straps.

M3 Pro

Meanwhile, the M3 Pro builds on BOBOVR’s proven comfort design but their B2 battery is slightly heavier than the Anker nano which is the difference in overall weight. The M3 Pro also has little top padded arms which add a little support on the top of the head in place of the top strap that the CMQ3 offers. You can see that the back pad has a large hole in the middle. This does allow for my airflow and more flexibility around the back of the head.

🔋 Battery Life & Features

This is where the M3 Pro takes a small lead. Th B2 battery provides an extra 1.5–2 hours of playtime and can be swapped magnetically when you buy extras, making it “hot-swappable”.

The CMQ3, on the other hand, opted to not produce their own power banks and has created a cradle on the back that perfectly holds the Anker Nano 5000 mAh power bank. Now, I’ve seen these power banks on sale for as low as $16 on Amazon. That is half the price of the B2 battery. Though it isn’t “hot-swappable”, it is still swappable during play.

Either of these technically allow for endless play time if you have 3 of them to swap between!

💬 Real-World Use

Both head straps are very similar. They have similar pivot points for adjustability and can easily be put on and off. I found that the M3 Pro does reach back a little further when fully extended where the CMQ3 just wrap around my head before I can tighten it.

I found the top strap of the CMQ3 to be more comfortable than the top pad arms of the M3 Pro. The top pads on the M3 Pro aren’t adjustable and for a big head like mine, were digging into my head in all positions except the lowest position of the head set by adjusting the front arms.

The extra padding options on the CMQ3 do allow for better customizing depending on what type of gaming session you’re having. The weights are so similar that I didn’t find the difference to be important.

Verdict: BOBOVR M3 Pro VS Globular Cluster CMQ3

Personally, the CMQ3 is my favorite for everyday use. The extra padding options are a game changer for me. I love being able to use the leather when I’m doing exercise or intense games so it is easy to clean. But then the fabric ones are so much nicer feeling for more relaxed games.

In terms of fit, I do like the top strap of the CMQ3 better than the padded tops arms of the M3 Pro. I found that with those arms I could only fit the M3 Pro in one position where it was comfortable. Otherwise, those tops arms dug into my head too much. The top strap of the CMQ3 offers the same, or more support, and it is adjustable. Part of this is because of my big head. Smaller heads wouldn’t have this issue that I do.

That said, the M3 Pro is a fantastic value option for users who want a built-in battery without the premium price of the S3 Pro and about $25 cheaper than the CMQ3 after getting the extra battery. Both are winners in their own right.
