Learning how to clean the lenses on your Meta Quest 3 or 3s is key for proper care and a clear and crisp VR experience. However, these VR lenses aren’t meant to be cleaned the same way as glasses lens or camera lenses. Scratching your lenses will end in frustration as you aren’t able to get them changed (or at least very easily). I’ll go through how to clean them and give some suggestions for protecting them as well.
How to Clean the Lenses on Meta Quest 3 & 3s
The solution is actually really simple. All you need is a clean and dry microfibre cloth. Gently rub the lenses in small circles with the cloth to get off any smudges.
DO NOT USE LENS CLEANER! Lens cleaner will end up ruining the lenses and make the Quest 3/3s useless.
How to Protect the Meta Quest 3 & 3s Lenses
Protecting the lenses is just as important as cleaning them. If you can prevent them from getting damaged or dirty in the first place, that is the better route.
1. Use a lens cover

A lens cover goes over the lenses when the Quest is not in use. This will stop any extra dust from settling on the lenses
2. Get Prescription/Non-Prescription Lens Inserts

Some of you already have prescription lens inserts like me. These go over the Quest 3/3s lenses and actually protect them as well. However, you can get these lens inserts without a prescription in them if you would just like an extra layer of protection or barrier to prevent scratches, etc.
3. Don’t Expose the Lenses to the Sun
Direct exposure to sun can lead to pixel burning in the lenses which will leave permanent dead spots when playing. Just be safe and conscious where you are playing and where you store your Meta Quest.
4. Clean them often
A quick clean after each use is going to be much easier than letting dust, grime, sweat, etc. build up on your lenses. The longer you let dirt or oil sit on the lenses, the more chance it has to do damage. Have a microfibre cloth close to where you store you Quest so that you can always do a quick clean off after you are done using it.
