JYXEREM Finger Grips for Meta Quest 3 & 3S Review

A minimalist alternative to full controller grips — with some trade-offs

Controller grips are one of those accessories that can dramatically improve comfort in VR, but not every grip is designed the same way. The JYXEREM Finger Grips for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S take a very different approach by ditching traditional straps entirely in favor of a strap-free rivet lock design. At $20 USD, they sit in the affordable range, but the real question is whether this minimalist design actually improves gameplay.

After spending time with them across different types of games, the answer is… sometimes.

Where to Buy

    Design & Installation

The standout feature here is the strap-free rivet lock system. Instead of wrapping around your hand or tightening with Velcro, the grips snap into place between your fingers and lock onto the controller.

    Installation is genuinely easy:

    • Align the grip
    • Slide it into place

Once installed, the grips don’t block buttons, triggers, sensors, or tracking, and they’re shaped specifically for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest 3S Xbox Edition controllers. From a design perspective, JYXEREM nailed compatibility and simplicity.

Aesthetically, they’re also very clean, no dangling straps or bulky silicone wrapping the controller.

    Comfort & Ergonomics

These grips are molded to follow the natural curve of the Quest 3 controllers, and for casual or slower-paced games, they actually work quite well. In relaxed titles like Moss or Pocket Lands, I was able to maintain a looser, more natural grip than I would with bare controllers.

For longer sessions in exploration or story-driven games, hand fatigue was minimal, and the grips felt balanced and unobtrusive.

That said, this design shows its limits once you switch genres.

    Performance in Intense Games

For fast-paced or intense VR games, the grips felt too loose for my liking. One of the biggest advantages of full controller grips is being able to completely relax your hand during downtime, almost letting go of the controller entirely.

    With the JYXEREM Finger Grips:

    • You still need to keep at least two fingers engaged
    • Fully relaxing your hand doesn’t feel secure
    • Sudden movements can make you more aware of the looseness

They’re usable, but they don’t provide the same confidence as full silicone grips with hand straps, especially in action-heavy or fitness-focused experiences.

    Charging Dock Compatibility

This is a big downside for many setups:
I wasn’t able to use my charging dock with these installed, and realistically, most charging docks won’t be compatible.

If dock charging is part of your daily routine, you’ll need to remove the grips each time, which quickly becomes inconvenient.

    Pros & Cons

    ✅ Pros

    • Strap-free, minimalist design
    • Quick snap-on installation
    • Doesn’t block buttons, triggers, or tracking
    • Comfortable for relaxed and casual games
    • Clean look with no dangling straps
    • Affordable at $20 USD

    ❌ Cons

    • Too loose for intense or fast-paced games
    • Can’t fully relax your hand like with full grips
    • Not compatible with most charging docks
    • Limited advantage over full controller grips for many players

    Final Verdict

The JYXEREM Finger Grips are an okay accessory with a very specific use case. They’re best suited for:

    • Casual, story-driven, or slower-paced games
    • Players who dislike straps or bulky grips
    • Minimalist VR setups focused on comfort over control

If you play a lot of intense action games, fitness apps, or competitive VR, full controller grips are still the better option. Personally, I prefer full grips because they allow me to completely relax my hands between moments, something these just don’t quite deliver.

That said, if you’re curious about strap-free designs and want a lightweight, affordable option, I can see where these fit into certain VR setups.

    Bottom line:
A niche accessory that works well for relaxed VR experiences, but not a full replacement for traditional controller grips.
