First Impressions & Design

At first glance, the Syntech Head Strap with Battery Pack looks like a bit of a complex mash of straps and padding, but once you actually wear it, the design turns out to be more interesting than expected.

The standout feature is the very thick top head pad. While this isn’t a halo strap, that oversized padding does a surprisingly good job of lifting weight off your face, mimicking some of the comfort benefits you’d normally associate with halo-style designs. I was skeptical at first, but once dialed in correctly, the pressure on my cheeks and forehead was noticeably reduced compared to most elite straps.

The rear-mounted battery also acts as a counterweight, which plays a big role in how comfortable the strap ends up feeling during longer sessions.

Comfort & Fit

Comfort is where this strap ended up pleasantly surprising me.

It does take some initial setup time. Between the top strap, rear rotating knob, and pad positioning, there are a lot of adjustable points. But once everything is adjusted properly, the strap feels stable and well-balanced. The breathable materials help prevent heat buildup, and the gravity-balanced design keeps the headset from pulling forward.

Despite being around 450 grams, it doesn’t feel overly heavy in use. That puts it roughly in the same weight class as the BoboVR E3 Pro. While it’s heavier than some minimalist elite straps, the weight distribution works well enough that it never felt fatiguing during normal play sessions.

Battery Performance

The included 10,000mAh detachable battery delivers around 3 additional hours of gameplay, which lines up well with Syntech’s claim of extending playtime by roughly 50%.

One thing to note:

  • The battery is not hot-swappable in the traditional sense
  • You can buy extra batteries for $60 on Syntech’s website
  • Swapping batteries will likely require removing the headset first

So while extended play is absolutely possible, it’s not quite as seamless as some magnetic hot-swap systems.

Value & Competition

This is where the Syntech strap really shines.

At $60 USD, it undercuts major competitors like:

  • Kiwi Design K4 Boost
  • BoboVR E3 Pro

While those options have their own strengths, Syntech offers a very competitive mix of comfort, battery life, and build quality at a noticeably lower price point. If you’re on a budget but still want a battery strap that feels premium once properly adjusted, this is an easy one to consider.

Final Verdict

The Syntech Head Strap with Battery Pack for Meta Quest 3 and 3S is a great example of a product that exceeds expectations once you actually use it.

It may look like a complicated elite strap, but the thick top padding and balanced battery placement significantly reduce facial pressure, delivering comfort that edges closer to halo-style designs. While it takes a bit of time to dial in the fit and doesn’t offer true hot-swappable batteries, the overall experience, especially at this price, is very solid.

Pros

  • Excellent price compared to competitors
  • Thick top padding reduces facial pressure
  • Well-balanced despite heavier weight
  • ~3 hours of extra battery life
  • Officially Meta Approved

Cons

  • Not truly hot-swappable
  • Takes time to adjust properly
  • Heavier than minimalist elite straps

Bottom line:
If you want an affordable battery head strap that prioritizes comfort and balance over flashy features, the Syntech Head Strap is a surprisingly strong option for Quest 3 and 3S owners.
