AMVR FC4M Magnetic Facial Interface Review – The Best for BOBOVR S3 Pro & AMVR BS1 Head Straps

Share:

If you use a fan-equipped head strap like the AMVR BS1 Battery Head Strap or BOBOVR S3 Pro, the facial interface you choose makes a bigger difference than most people realize. After testing several options for the Meta Quest 3, the AMVR FC4M Magnetic Facial Interface has become my personal favourite.

The FC4M focuses heavily on airflow, comfort, and adjustability, and it solves a lot of the common problems VR users run into during longer sessions.

Watch my review or read about it below.

Designed for Fan Head Straps

The biggest strength of the FC4M is how well it works with halo-style head straps that include active cooling fans. Its vented design and airflow indentation channel allows air from straps like the AMVR BS1 and BOBOVR S3 Pro to actually reach your forehead and face instead of getting trapped around the padding.

That may sound minor, but in practice it makes a huge difference. The cooling effect feels more noticeable, sweat buildup is reduced, and lens fogging becomes far less of an issue during intense sessions.

This is the facial interface I consistently reach for when using either of those head straps.

Ice Silk Padding Is Excellent

I’ve always preferred ice silk padding over traditional leather-style materials, and AMVR did a great job here.

The included ice silk face pad feels cool against the skin, breathes well, and stays comfortable during longer VR sessions. As mentioned already, the groove built into the padding help direct airflow across the forehead and upper face, which pairs perfectly with fan-equipped head straps.

Instead of trapping heat like thicker leather pads sometimes do, the FC4M feels noticeably more breathable and less sweaty over time.

It does come with a leather padding option as well which is still a comfortable option. It is easy to clean and easy to remove with the magnetic backing.

Magnetic Face Pad System

One of the standout features is the magnetic quick-swap design.

The padding options attach magnetically and can be removed in seconds. It sounds simple, but it’s incredibly convenient in daily use. Whether you need to wipe away sweat, clean the interface, or quickly swap between users, it makes the whole process effortless.

For households where multiple people use the same headset, this is a genuinely useful feature rather than just a gimmick.

Adjustable Eye Relief Is Surprisingly Useful

The side adjustment knobs are a stand-out feature as well. The “built-in” glasses spacer on the stock facial interface was trash. These knobs work and help enhance the your experience on so many levels.

The FC4M lets you fine-tune the distance between your face and the lenses, which is great for several types of users:

  • People trying to maximize field of view
  • Glasses wearers
  • Users with prescription lens inserts
  • Families sharing a headset between multiple people

Being able to quickly dial in the spacing without swapping foam spacers is much easier than most standard facial interfaces.

Comfort and Light Blocking

Comfort is excellent overall. The interface distributes pressure well and works especially nicely with halo-style straps, avoiding awkward pressure points on the forehead and cheeks.

Despite the added venting, I was impressed with how little light leakage there is. The nose flap also does a solid job blocking external light. It’s not absolutely perfect, but it’s very close and better than many vented interfaces I’ve tried.

The Downsides

The main drawback is price (sort of).

The FC4M is the most expensive facial interface in AMVR’s lineup, so if you just want a basic replacement interface there are cheaper options available, even from AMVR themselves.

That said, it also offers the most features in the AMVR lineup:

  • Magnetic face pad swapping
  • Adjustable eye relief
  • Improved airflow design
  • Ice silk cooling padding
  • Strong compatibility with fan-style halo straps

In terms of overall comparison to other facial interfaces. For the quality and everything you get, the price is very fair.

Another important note: this facial interface is not compatible with the Meta Quest 3S.

Final Thoughts

The AMVR FC4M has become my favorite facial interface for the Meta Quest 3, especially when paired with cooling-focused head straps like the AMVR BS1 or BOBOVR S3 Pro.

The airflow improvements genuinely work, the ice silk padding stays comfortable, the magnetic system is convenient, and the adjustable spacing makes it incredibly versatile for different users.

It costs more than other AMVR interfaces, but in return you get one of the most feature-rich and comfort-focused facial interfaces currently available for the Quest 3.
